Alvaro Castagnet one of
the world’s most highly respected watercolorists, who
brings a wealth of
skill, experience and sensitivity to this painting workshop.
He has a considerable reputation as a workshop teacher
in Australia and the United States. He also tutors for Australian Artist
magazine, International Artist magazine’s, International Painting Workshop
Holidays to destinations in
Europe with great success since 1992. Alvaro’s
is author of
Watercolor Painting with Passion,
published in 2000 by International Artist Publishing Inc.
Alvaro was born
in Montevideo, Uruguay,
South America
and moved to Australia in
1983. He has
traveled extensively
throughout the USA, Mexico,
South America,
Europe and Australia, which
he says has broadened his
vision, depth and range of subjects. His
early interest in art
was cultivated by his father, who,
at a very young
age, sent him to the National School
of Art
in Montevideo where he was taught by
Professor Esteban Garino. At the Fine Arts University, his oil painting
tutor was Miguel Angel
Pareja.
He is a skilled and honest
teacher with a great love of life and possesses a unique
artistic talent. Alvaro’s experience in the field of
teaching watercolors to all levels of artists from beginners to advanced
is well known and greatly appreciated
because he manages to
inspire and
lift the abilities of all who work with him. He has taught many workshops throughout Australia and Europe,
as well as America.
Alvaro’s work
has been recognized with top
honors at dozens of shows, including several prestigious
national prizes. His works have been acquired for
private and corporate collections worldwide.

He is a member of the Watercolor Society
of Victoria and the Victorian Artists’ Society.
